We also make decisions based on preferences unseen \u2013 where we grew up or lessons learned in childhood, for example \u2013 may lead us to favor a certain car over another, or a certain person over another based \u2013 not on qualifications \u2013 but on appearances, culture, or \u2018something I just can\u2019t put my finger on.\u2019 That favoritism \u2013 that unowned feeling \u2013 may be a sign of unconscious bias.
